Photosynthesis-enhanced Hybrid Poplar

40-60%

More biomass

Field tests show our enhanced seedlings grow faster compared to controls.

~27%

More CO2 captured

With more biomass our seedlings are able to capture more CO2.

Hybrid Poplar

Populus x canescens, otherwise known as the Gray Poplar, is a hybrid between Populus tremula (common aspen) and Populus alba (white poplar). Living Carbon enhanced hybrid poplar trees are all female, which helps minimize unwanted pollination or cross-pollination with wild type trees. The plant is not self-fertile.

Hardiness Zones:
Zones 3–9
Sun Preference:
Full sun, direct (6 hours)
Mature Size:
The hybrid poplar grows to a height of 130' and a spread of around 30' at maturity.
Soil:
Acidic, alkaline and wet soils.
Ecology:
Hybrid poplar bark, twigs and leaves are eaten by rodents, rabbits, deer, beavers and porcupines. It provides forage for browsing wildlife such as white-tailed and mule deer up through the sapling stage. It also provides important nesting and roosting habitat for various species of birds.

Reduce your emissions with enhanced seedlings

Work with Living Carbon to plant photosynthesis-enhanced trees on your land assets as part of your reduction strategy. We provide our seedlings as a method of decarbonization and quantify the carbon impact on your overall emission.
